Election Commission Sets Spending Limit for National Assembly Candidates

Kathmandu, Dec 29 — The Election Commission (EC) has announced the expenditure ceiling for candidates contesting the upcoming National Assembly (NA) election, scheduled for January 25, 2026.

According to the EC, each candidate can spend up to Rs 350,000 on election-related activities. The spending breakdown includes Rs 70,000 for vehicle rental, Rs 10,000 for fuel, Rs 1,500 for publicity materials, Rs 10,000 for transportation, Rs 100,000 for seminars and interaction programs, and Rs 14,500 for print and electronic media. Additionally, Rs 70,000 can be allocated for office operations, Rs 30,000 for representative mobilization, and Rs 30,000 for miscellaneous expenses.

The Commission has also instructed candidates to open a dedicated bank account for election-related expenditures and to appoint a responsible person to manage the spending. After the election, all candidates must submit a detailed account of their election expenses to the EC in line with the NA Member Election Act, 2075 BS.
