PM Oli inaugurates road project in Damak, dismisses Spain visit rumours

Jhapa: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Sunday inaugurated the upgraded Madandangi-Tarabari-Dipu road in Damak Municipality, Jhapa.

The 4.86 km road, completed at a cost of Rs 442.4 million with support from the World Bank, is one of 17 pride projects selected across the country. It has been recognized as a model initiative completed within schedule.

Speaking at the event, PM Oli said the road reflects the government’s commitment to completing development works from Mechi to Mahakali. He also announced plans to construct a large stadium in Beldangi, Damak.

Highlighting recent improvements in the education sector, he said SEE results have risen by 13 percent this year, attributing the progress to free online classes in key subjects conducted by volunteers.

Addressing criticism surrounding his recent visit to Spain, Oli rejected claims that some individuals had failed to return, labeling them as “false and malicious propaganda” spread by opposition and anarchic forces to overshadow the visit’s success.

The event was attended by Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Devendra Dahal, Koshi Province Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki, and former Chief Ministers Sherdhan Rai and Uddhav Thapa, among others.
