Experts discuss China’s Global Civilization Initiative in Kathmandu

July 16, Kathmandu: Experts on Tuesday gathered in Kathmandu to discuss China’s Global Civilisation Initiative (GCI), proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2023. The event, organised by Friends on the Cloud, featured insights on the initiative’s global relevance and its implications for Nepal.

Former Home Minister and Rastriya Prajatantra Party Vice-Chair Buddhi Man Tamang, former Ambassador Yuba Nath Lamsal, Friends on the Cloud President Shobhit Upreti, and foreign affairs expert D.B. Sunar shared their views. Lamsal emphasised that understanding China, a global power, is crucial for comprehending South Asia and the world. Tamang expressed confidence that Nepal could achieve progress in all sectors by following the principles of King Prithvi Narayan Shah.

Upreti highlighted that the GCI promotes tradition, civilization, dignified democracy, and people-to-people connections, urging all nations to adopt its principles. The initiative aims to foster respect, cooperation, and harmony among diverse civilizations worldwide.
