House of Representatives session resumes amid sloganeering and urgent national concerns

Kathmandu: The House of Representatives resumed its session today amid continued sloganeering, with lawmakers raising pressing concerns about deteriorating infrastructure and national safety issues.

During the emergency meeting, several MPs criticized the government for its failure to complete vital road and bridge projects, especially with the onset of the monsoon season. They highlighted the growing risks posed by delayed construction and aging infrastructure across the country.

Nepali Congress Chief Whip Shyam Ghimire addressed recent political controversies, asserting that the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) had no moral ground to raise questions regarding the visit visa issue. He pointed to RSP Chairman Rabi Lamichhane, who is facing multiple court cases related to cooperative fraud, questioning how he continues to lead the party and its parliamentary wing.

CPN-UML lawmaker Yogesh Bhattarai called for the urgent reconstruction of the collapsed Hewa Khola bridge in Panchthar. He demanded immediate relief for the families of three people who died in Saturday’s accident and called for proper treatment for the injured. Bhattarai also stressed the importance of resuming transportation routes disrupted by the bridge collapse.

Meanwhile, CPN (Maoist Center) MP Devendra Poudel urged the government to inform the House about the steps being taken to ensure the safety of Nepali citizens amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran.
