World Indigenous Peoples Day to be celebrated for a week

 

Kathmandu, Aug 3: The Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) has decided to celebrate the 31st International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples for a week.

NEFIN’s President, Gelje Lama Sherpa, informed that they would observe the Day for a week. He shared it at a press conference on Sunday. The week-long programme will begin on August 9. NEFIN General Secretary Divas Rai mentioned that, in addition to the main event to be organised at the National Conference Hall of Bhrikutimandap, there will be a cultural pageantry reflecting the diverse identities of indigenous communities.

Display of native food items will also feature during the celebration, he added.
