Jumla-Rara marathon taking place tomorrow
Jumla, May 9: Five hundred and ninety-one athletes are taking part in the Jumla-Rara Ultra Marathon that kicks off here on Saturday, the Karnali Sports Club announced in a press conference today. It said all preparations for the sixth edition of the 51-kilometre race have been completed.
Club President Saroj Shahi said 74 athletes from Nepal, two from India and one each from Poland, USA and France are competing in the marathon. Altogether, there will be 591 athletes, including 155 employees in the five-kilometre run for the employees, 355 students for the 10-km distance race for students, and two participants from the Tribhuvan Army Club, as part of the marathon.
According to Shahi, Rs 2.8 million has been allocated for the marathon. He expressed confidence that the competition would contribute to the promotion of tourism in the district.
