Nepal should learn from China’s development: Experts
March 21, Kathmandu: Experts and politicians at a programme hosted by Friends of Silk Road Club-Nepal emphasized that Nepal should adopt lessons from China’s economic rise over the past four decades to boost its own growth and prosperity.
Speaking at the event titled “China’s Two Sessions 2025: Lessons, Opportunities, and Implications for Nepal,” on Thursday, key figures highlighted opportunities in economic collaboration, technical expertise, and sustainable development.
Former Industry Minister Karna Bahadur Thapa of CPN (UML) advocated for stronger Nepal-China diplomatic ties to maximize benefits through partnership. CPN (Maoist Centre) member Yubraj Chaulagain underscored the potential of China’s economic power to aid Nepal’s development, while Nepali Congress leader Madhu Acharya praised China’s technological advancements as a model for Nepal.
Experts, including Prof Dr Arjun Kumar Baral of Tribhuvan University and foreign affairs analyst Gopal Khanal, pointed to China’s strategies in industrialization, modernization, and governance as key takeaways.
Club General Secretary Dr Kalyan Raj Sharma stressed the importance of attracting Chinese foreign direct investment by deepening bilateral relations.
