Yoga helps keep physical and mental health strong: Speaker Ghimire

Lekhnath (Kaski): Speaker Devraj Ghimire said that yoga practices are crucial for keeping physical and mental health strong.

Inaugurating a weeklong Yoga camp hosted by the Jeewan Bigyan Foundation in Pokhara from Saturday, he further spoke about the importance of Yoga for self-discipline.

Stating that the government has included Yoga, meditation and spiritual practice in its policies and programmes in the recent past, Speaker Ghimire said Yoga and meditation were considered scientific methods.

Nepal could be developed as a centre of spiritual tourism, he said, noting such spiritual practices would also develop Nepal as a zone of peace.

Chief Minister of Gandaki Province, Surendra Raj Pandey viewed that Yoga, meditation and spiritual practice would create more energy to the human body as well as increase the level of consciousness.

He expressed the belief that such camps would help increase the number of tourists visiting Pokhara with the declaration of tourism capital.

Former Chief Minister Khagaraj Adhikari said Yoga and spiritual practice can strengthen their mental state.

Chief Secretary of the government, Ek Narayan Aryal, said that Yoga and meditation can improve the health of the people. “The government of late has laid emphasis on Yoga and meditation for the cause”, he added.

Also speaking on the occasion, Gandaki Province Minster for Social Development and Youth Bindu Kumar Thapa, Gandaki Province Assembly Speaker Krishna Prasad Dhital, RPP Nepal’s central member Upadhyaykrish Hemjung Gurung highlighted the benefits of Yoga for social well-being.
