Nepali Army Peacekeepers leave for South Sudan

Kathmandu, Feb 23: A total of 211 personnel from the Chandi Prasad Battalion of the Nepali Army (NA) left for South Sudan last night.

The NA team, deployed for peacekeeping under the United Nations, departed for Juba, the capital of South Sudan. The contingent is led by Major Milan Acharya.

According to the Directorate of Public Relations and Information of the Nepali Army, the team has now reached its designated location.

Earlier, a 213-member Aridaman Battalion, led by Major General Maheshwar Silwal, returned to Kathmandu on Saturday after completing the same mission.

Currently, 1,756 Nepali Army personnel are serving in South Sudan as peacekeepers, including sector commanders, military observers, staff officers, and personnel from two battalions and one company.
