Kickboxer Ghimire wins ‘K1 World Max Champion’

Kathmandu, Feb 10: Nepali kickboxer Abiral Ghimire, who is also known by his title name as a ‘snow leopard,’ has set another record in the kickboxing field.

Ghimire became the champion by defeating Japanese boxer Yasuhito Sirasu in the K1 World Max 2025 tournament organized by ‘K1 Professional Kick Boxing’ at the National Yoyogi Stadium in Tokyo, Japan, on Sunday. Earlier, Ghimire became the ‘World Champion’ in the International Kick Boxing (ISCA) competition organized by the International Sports Kick Boxing Association at Nagoya Congress Center in Nagoya City, Japan, on October 27.

With this success, Boxer Ghimire has won three titles in K1 kickboxing and has become the world champion of ISCA and Hit Kick Boxing competitions. Boxer Ghimire defeated Sirasu in the third round of the ‘K1 World Max 2025’ tournament to become the champion.

Ghimire, who has so far defeated boxers from France, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, Bolivia, the Netherlands, Thailand, and other countries, has again been able to keep Nepal’s identity in the world by hoisting the Nepali flag in another international tournament. He had received special training in boxing from his father, Dev Ghimire, in Nagoya City, Japan.

His father is a former international kickboxer and full-contact karate player. Before taking part in the tournament, he underwent a month-long special training at Tiger Muay Thai Club in Thailand. Ghimire’s father, Dev, is the first South Asian player to participate in karate in the K1 Professional Kick Boxing Tournament held in Seoul, Korea, in 2004.

His family, a resident of Gurjudhara Balambu of Chandragiri Municipality-12, is currently living in Nagoya City, Japan. —RSS
