Province govt pledges to enhance capacity of women journalists

Morang, Aug 6: Chief Minister of the Koshi Province, Hikmat Kumar Karki, has expressed his commitment to enhancing the capacity of women journalists.

Receiving a memorandum from the central and provincial officials of the Sancharika Samuha today, he shared the provincial government’s dedication to providing necessary support to hone the skills and knowledge of women journalists.

Chief Minister Karki emphasised that the provincial government will work in favour of women journalists to the possible extent. He also mentioned the plan to work for journalists’ welfare through the upcoming establishment of a Communication and Journalism Institute by the provincial government.

Chief Minister Karki shared his intention to take all possible measures and efforts from his side to enact gender-friendly laws and prioritise women in the communications sector. Radha Khanal, General Secretary of the Sancharika Samuha, submitted the memorandum covering various issues that concern women journalists.
