Strengthening ties: Nepal’s Army Chief praises relations with PLA

July 22, Kathmandu: Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Prabhuram Sharma highlighted the deepening relations between the Nepali Army and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) during a reception hosted by the Chinese Embassy on Sunday evening.
The event celebrated the 97th Establishment Day of the PLA, marking a pivotal moment in the military history of China.
In his address, CoAS Sharma expressed appreciation for the sacrifices made by the PLA and acknowledged the military assistance provided to Nepal. He noted that the relationship between the two nations’ armies had grown stronger in recent times, emphasizing a commitment to mutual respect and cooperation.
“The relationship has become qualitatively stronger,” Sharma stated, reinforcing Nepal’s dedication to the one-China principle. He added, “Nepal, a peace-loving nation, has a policy of maintaining friendship with all countries. Our foreign relations are also inspired by this ideal.”
Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, echoed these sentiments, affirming that China-Nepal relations were as robust as the mountains that define their shared landscape.
He underscored the importance of mutual harmony, respect, and brotherhood in the ongoing partnership between the two countries, stating that these principles guide their interactions.
Ambassador Chen also committed to providing comprehensive support from China for Nepal’s socio-economic development, underlining the importance of trust and cooperation in their bilateral relations.
Attendees were also shown a documentary that depicted the history and activities of the PLA, further enriching the understanding of the military’s role in fostering international relations.
