Kaag Tihar festival being celebrated today

Kathmandu, Nov 7: The ‘Kaag Tihar’ is being observed this morning by offering delicious food to the crow.

Crow is regarded as the messenger of Yamraj, the Hindu god of death and justice.

Kaag Tihar is marked on the day of Trayodashi, and it is a part of the Yamapanchaka or the five days of the Tihar festival, the Hindu festival of lights.

Chairperson of the Nepal Calendar Determination Development Committee, Dr Purushottam Bhattarai, said that a decision was taken to celebrate Kaag Tihar today, as Kaag Tihar should be celebrated on the day of Trayodashi in the morning as per religious scriptures.

On the occasion, a special worship is held today at Kageshwori Mahadev Temple in Kageshwori Manohara Municipality-1.
Similarly, special worship of the crow is also performed at Kageshwori Temple located in Hanumandhoka.

The festival of Tihar is associated with the belief that Yamraj will punish those who commit evil deeds and protect those who do good deeds, becoming Dharmaraj. RSS
