RSP president Lamichhane directs leaders, cadres to show political culture

Chitwan: President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rabi Lamichhane, has directed the party leaders and cadres to show utmost political culture, paying heed to people’s expectations and needs.

In a special address to a programme organised by the RSP in Chitwan on Friday, President Lamichhane wondered about the change in behaviour of party leaders and cadres after the party rose to government leadership.

“It is not a political character to attack the society which puts forth critical views. The party’s behaviour is evaluated by society,” he reminded, urging the party line to mend its ways. The people have given a huge opportunity (with 182 seats in parliament) for RSP to lead the government, so the party needs to correct its behaviour.

Lamichhane viewed it as not the time to be revengeful. “If we exert undue pressure on the administration and police, we will not be able to navigate for long,” he warned. The president of the largest political party censured the party line and asked to shun arrogance.

He reminded that RSP had suggested that the government work as per people’s expectations. The chairman, however, claimed that there was no dispute and infighting in RSP. He also stressed strengthening institutions, including the courts, policy and press, for a robust system.
