Minister Pokharel, CM Shahi discuss preparations for 10th National Games

Surkhet: Preparations for the 10th National Games, scheduled to be held in Karnali Province, were the focus of a meeting between Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel and provincial officials in Surkhet on Sunday.

Minister Pokharel held discussions with Chief Minister Mangal Bahadur Shahi and Minister for Social Development Jeet Bahadur Malla on sports infrastructure, event management and coordination between the federal and provincial governments.

During the meeting, Minister Pokharel informed that the ministry was working closely with all concerned stakeholders to ensure that the Games take place as scheduled. He also assured full support from the federal government for the development and management of sports infrastructure in Karnali Province.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Shahi and Minister Malla reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to making the event a success. They appraised visiting Minister Pokharel that preparations for the Games had reached the final stage.

Minister Pokharel is currently in Surkhet district to assess preparations, inspect sports infrastructure and coordinate with stakeholders ahead of the multi-sport event.

The 10th National Games are scheduled to take place in Karnali Province from December 2 to 13 later this year.
