At an interaction organised by Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office here on Sunday, Chair Gajurel shared that the traffic management of Kathmandu Valley has improved as compared to previous years.

“Traffic management of Kathmandu Valley has improved significantly as compared to previous years. The role of traffic police in road safety and traffic management is admirable. Everyone should follow traffic rules to ensure road safety,” he underlined.

Gajurel pointed out the need to mobilise additional human resources in traffic management considering the increasing vehicle pressure. He laid emphasis on constant collaboration and shared commitment between the concerned bodies for safe vehicular movement.

Similarly, Chief of Valley Traffic Police Office, Senior Superintendent of Police, Suresh Prasad Kafle shared that traffic police have been working round-the-clock for road safety, to make people follow traffic rules, to lessen road accidents and to ensure the safety of pedestrians. He directed traffic police to perform impartially and responsibly, adding that zero tolerance would be adopted against economic irregularities.

Kafle opined that public awareness programmes and interaction have been continued for road safety, effective implementation of traffic rules and development of an accident-free transport system. Participants in the programmes emphasised the need for all road users, including drivers and pedestrians, to completely follow traffic rules to lessen road accidents.

A total of 506 traffic police officers and employees working at the Valley Traffic Police Office and subordinate bodies were present on the occasion.
