Rain-induced disasters claim 12 lives in Baglung

Baglung, Sept 29: The death toll from rain-induced disasters in Baglung district has reached 12 in the past three days, with one person still missing.

According to the District Police Office, landslides triggered by incessant rainfall have buried houses and caused fatalities in several parts of the district.

Two people died after a landslide buried their house at Sipa in Tarakhola Rural Municipality-5. The deceased have been identified as 55-year-old Dil Bahadur Pun and his 79-year-old mother-in-law, Narmaya Roka, according to District Police Office Chief Superintendent of Police Phanindra Prasai.

Pun’s wife, two sons and daughter-in-law were injured in the incident, police said.

One person was also killed in a rain-related disaster in Tarakhola on Saturday.

Meanwhile, four people have died and one remains missing in Tamankhola Rural Municipality, while five others have lost their lives in rain-induced disasters in Nisikhola Rural Municipality.

Police and local authorities are continuing search and rescue efforts in the affected areas.
