Karnali Corridor blocked by landslide in Humla
Humla, Sept 20: The Karnali Corridor has been blocked by a major landslide in Sarkegad Rural Municipality-2 of Humla, disrupting vehicular movement along the route.
The landslide has covered around 100 metres of the road with debris, leaving vehicles and passengers stranded.
More than 27 residents of Adanchuli Rural Municipality, who were travelling to Simkot to attend a health camp, have been affected by the road closure. They are currently waiting in nearby fields in Sarkegad, concerned about reaching their destination on time.
Chief District Officer Bholanath Guragain said efforts were underway to clear the road. However, large boulders at the site have made it difficult to use conventional machinery for the clearance operation.
Authorities have held discussions with local representatives and security agencies and plan to begin intensive road-clearing work from Sunday morning.
The Karnali Corridor has faced repeated disruptions due to landslides and other natural hazards, affecting the supply of essential goods and services to residents of Humla.
