Additional specialist doctors sent to flood-hit areas

Kathmandu: An additional team of specialist doctors is being sent to the Bhotekoshi flood-affected areas to strengthen maternity, child and reproductive health services.

The Ministry of Health and Food Safety said the team includes specialists from Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital and Kanti Children’s Hospital.

The team is leaving for Nuwakot today and will also provide services in Rasuwa.

The ministry said health teams are already providing basic services in the affected areas, but specialist care in maternity, paediatric and reproductive health is also needed.

The team includes paediatrician Dr Bina Prajapati from Kanti Children’s Hospital and senior gynaecologists Dr Hari Kumar Shrestha and Dr Shreeram Khadka from Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital.

The doctors will provide specialised health services to flood-affected people in Nuwakot and Rasuwa.
