Kathmandu: The MIT Foundation is set to provide Rs 578.5 million for the education, health and nutrition of children who lost their parents in the Bhotekoshi flood.

At a brief programme held here on Friday, Durga Prasad Chalise, Secretary at the National Child Rights Council, and Shesh Ghale, Chair of the Foundation, signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation.

According to the understanding, children below 18 who are affected by floods will be raised in a safe family environment with education, health, nutrition, and psychosocial support.

Also, care through relatives will be prioritized, while institutional care will be considered as a last resort, as stated in the MoU.

The support will continue from the date of signing the understanding until the targeted children reach 18 years of age.

The Council will facilitate the identification of beneficiaries, coordination, and child protection, while the Foundation will provide financial and technical support. RSS
