Two die in Rukum West jeep accident, injured rescued by helicopter

Tribeni, Rukum West: Two people were killed and nine others injured when a jeep met with an accident at Deutakhola of Sanibheri Rural Municipality in Rukum West.

The deceased have been identified as jeep driver Sundar Khadka Magar of Rugha, Tribeni Rural Municipality-1, and sixteen-year-old Prem Kala Pun of Sanibheri-6, according to the District Police Office, Rukum West.

Of the injured, two were airlifted to the Provincial Hospital in Surkhet by a Nepali Army helicopter, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Bed Bahadur Paudel of the District Police Office.

Preparations were underway to airlift two more injured people by a Nepali Army helicopter, according to police.

The other injured are receiving treatment at the Sanibheri Rural Municipality Hospital in Simli.

Preliminary investigation shows that thirteen people, including the driver, were travelling in the jeep at the time of the accident. Police said the identities of all those travelling in the vehicle have not yet been established.

The jeep, with registration number Lu 1 Cha 6029, was travelling from Kotgaun of Sanibheri-6 towards Simli when it fell around fifty metres off the road.
