CM Thapa bids farewell to Nepali team competing in 46th Chess Olympiad

Kathmandu, Sept 13: Chief Minister of Bagamati Province, Kiran Thapa Magar, today bade farewell to a team of Nepali chess champions to the 46th FIDE Chess Olympiad 2026.

 The competition is scheduled to be held in Samarkand of Uzbekistan from September 14-27.   

At the programme organised by the Nepal Chess Federation, the Chief Minister said players returning home with award will be honoured with a cash prize by the province government. He added that the province government had significantly invested in the sports sector to boost the morale of sportspeople.

 “An athlete’s victory is the nation’s triumph,” he observed.
