Madhes Government Hands Over 12 Vehicles to Nepal Police

Janakpurdham, Aug 25: The Madhes Province government has provided 12 pickup vans to the Nepal Police to strengthen security and policing operations across the province.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs, Communications and Law handed over the vehicles during a programme held in Janakpurdham on Monday. Seven districts received one vehicle each, while Sarlahi was provided with two. The Chandrapur and Garuda Area Police Offices in Rautahat also received one vehicle each.

Minister for Internal Affairs, Communications and Law Fakira Mahato said the provincial government has placed peace, security and protection of citizens’ lives and property among its priorities. He said the government would continue providing resources and enhancing the capacity of police personnel.

Nepal Police Deputy Inspector General Om Prasad Adhikari said the vehicles and other resources provided by the provincial government would support police efforts to maintain peace and security.

According to ministry official Avinish Kumar Mishra, the vehicles cost more than Rs 46.86 million, including VAT.

The provincial government is also preparing to provide 70 motorcycles to the Nepal Police to facilitate patrolling and other field operations, according to planning officer Radheshyam Prasad Pal.
