National Nutrition Assessment Campaign Begins April 28
Kathmandu, April 27: The government is set to launch a nationwide “National Nutrition Assessment Campaign” from April 28 to assess the nutritional status of children.
According to Department of Health Services Nutrition Section Chief Lila Bikram Thapa, the campaign will focus on children aged six to 59 months across the country.
The initiative aims to identify malnutrition at an early stage through measurements carried out by community health volunteers and nearby health facilities. Around 2.2 million children are expected to be covered during the campaign, which will run until May 13.
Children found to be malnourished will be provided with free therapeutic food through outpatient centres.
The campaign will be conducted at health institutions, immunization centres, community clinics, ward offices, community buildings and early childhood development centres nationwide.
