Government proposes Finland to collaborate for school education reforms
Kathmandu: The government has proposed to the Finnish government a collaboration to improve school education in Nepal.

The proposal was put forward during the courtesy call between Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Sasmit Pokharel, and Finland’s Ambassador to Nepal, Petri Puhakka, at the Ministry today. Minister Pokharel shared that a proposal for collaboration in the education sector was put forward, as Finland’s education system is regarded as one of the best in the world.
Sharing that Nepal and Finland have always had pleasant and cordial relations, he thanked the Finnish government for its support in Nepal’s development. Also, the Spokesperson of the government, Minister Pokharel, shared about the government’s priorities and upcoming programmes, lauding the support of the Finnish government in the education sector. H
e also expected continuous support of Finland in the development of overall sectors, including the education of Nepal, in the coming days. Various matters, including bilateral relations and mobilisation of development assistance, were also discussed on the occasion.
Similarly, Finnish Ambassador Puhakka expressed commitment that the Finnish government’s support in Nepal’s education sector would be continued for the next five years.
The School Education Sector Plan and Teachers’ Education programme are now in operation with the support of Finland.
He opined that, as Finland has expertise in autism and inclusive education, they are willing to support and collaborate in these educational programmes in the context that the government of Nepal has adopted a policy of establishing autism schools.
