Nepal to procure chemical fertilizers from India under G2G deal amid West Asia supply disruptions

Kathmandu: The government is set to procure 150,000 metric tons of chemical fertilizers from India under a government-to-government (G2G) arrangement.

The decision comes as supply has been affected due to the ongoing tensions in West Asia.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development said it has initiated the process through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to facilitate the import.

Joint Secretary Dr Ramkrishna Shrestha said a proposal has been sent to procure 100 thousand metric tons of urea and 50 thousand metric tons of other fertilizers.

He added that the Indian side has given a positive response to the request.
