Karnali Festival ‘Kuda Karnali’ Begins in Surkhet

Surkhet, April 12: The seventh edition of ‘Karnali Festival: Kuda Karnali’ has begun in Surkhet, bringing together stakeholders to discuss development, culture and prospects of Karnali Province.

Organised by the Rhiti Foundation, the three-day festival focuses on dialogue around the region’s challenges and opportunities. Organising committee coordinator Kamal Lamsal said the event aims to promote discussions on prosperity and inclusive development in Karnali.

Key themes of the festival include issues of marginalised communities, women’s leadership, religious sites, stories of struggle and success, youth engagement, indigenous healing practices in Upper Karnali, as well as energy and technology.

Former minister Madhav Prasad Chaulagain said the festival has evolved into a common platform to explore Karnali’s geography, culture and potential. He added that this year’s edition seeks to address public dissatisfaction and encourage balanced development.

The festival features 15 sessions over three days, with participation from people of diverse backgrounds sharing their experiences and ideas.
