Election buzz grips Mahottari after nomination filing
Mahottari, Jan 21: With the successful completion of candidacy filing on Tuesday, excitement over the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) election has intensified in Mahottari. The HoR polls are scheduled for March 5.
The election has become a major topic of discussion across the district. From tea shops to marketplaces, conversations now revolve around election preparations, voting, candidates and their agendas. The campaign atmosphere has visibly picked up pace following the nomination process.
Mahottari has four constituencies, where a total of 143 candidates from various political parties filed their nominations. According to Chief Returning Officer Madhav Prasad Adhikari, 27 candidates registered their nominations in constituency-1, 37 in constituency-2, 42 in constituency-3 and 37 in constituency-4.
Of the total candidates, 13 are women. Constituency-1 has four women candidates, constituency-2 five, while constituencies 3 and 4 have two women candidates each.
Chief District Officer Indra Dev Yadav said the nomination process was completed peacefully in all four constituencies. He added that an all-party meeting held on Monday pledged full compliance with the election code of conduct and that robust security arrangements have been put in place for the polls.
According to the District Election Office, Mahottari has 431,252 registered voters, including 235,138 men, 196,097 women and two others.
