‘Madhesi community should unite for effective implementation of rights secured so far’

Kathmandu: Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens, Nawal Kishor Shah Sudi, has called for the Madhesi community to further unite to institutionalise the rights achieved so far.

Addressing a health awareness programme organised by the Women Sub-Committee of the Sudi Society in Kathmandu on Saturday, the Minister stated that the participation of the Madhesi community in the executive, judiciary, and legislature has relatively increased compared to the past. However, he emphasised the need for greater unity among the community to secure additional rights.

The Minister also expressed confidence that the Society would play a constructive role in building a politically, socially, economically, and educationally empowered society.

Similarly, CPN (UML) leader and lawmaker Juli Kumari Mahato urged the State to increase investment in the economic, social, political, and educational development of Madhesi women, highlighting the need for their overall advancement.

According to Society Chair Sheetal Prasad Mahato, the programme focused on discussions with doctors about the symptoms and treatment procedures of cancer. The aim was to raise public awareness among women about breast and uterine cancer.
