Dhana Lakshmi Waterfall in Chitwan’s Madi awaits wider recognition

June 12, Kathmandu: The Madi Valley in Chitwan is rich in terms of nature, religious sites and cultural heritage. It is home to various religious shrines such as the Sameshwor Temple, Goddhak, Baikuntha Tal (Lake), and the Ram Mandir.

Madi also boasts the Dhana Laxmi Waterfall, which falls from a height of around 60 meters. However, many people are unaware of the natural heritage found here.

This natural treasure deserves greater attention. It can be reached via a hike from Baikuntha Lake. Nearby attractions include Baikuntheshwar Temple, Kailash Hill, Prem Pond and Chamere Cave. These sites hold significant natural and religious value.

Incomplete stairways and limited awareness restrict tourist visits. Madi’s rugged terrain, surrounded by Chitwan National Park, hosts wildlife like tigers and rhinos.

Deputy Mayor of Madi Municipality Khem Prasad Mahato emphasised that proper funding, improved access, and robust promotion would elevate the waterfall into a key destination. This could draw visitors to Madi’s scenic cultural and natural wonders.
