Rijal wins Nepal Law Campus FSU Presidency in Monday’s election

April 22, Kathmandu: Advocate Samir Rijal has been elected president of the Free Student Union (FSU) at Nepal Law Campus.

Rijal, representing a joint panel of the All Nepal National Free Students’ Union (ANNFSU) and the All Nepal National Independent Students’ Union (Revolutionary) (ANNISU-R), received 871 votes, defeating Mohammad Mazid Prawez of the Nepal Student Union (NSU), who received 757 votes.  The election for the FSU was held on Monday.

In the race for general secretary, NSU’s Manmohan Bhatt emerged victorious with 829 votes, narrowly surpassing Om Prakash Sunar of the ANNFSU-ANNISU-R joint panel, who garnered 812 votes. NSU’s Bidisha Mishra secured 864 votes for the treasurer position, defeating Asutosh Kumar Gupta of the joint panel, who received 779 votes.

Elected FSU members from the ANNFSU-ANNISU-R joint panel include Rasa Pandit Chettri, Prakash Tamang, Nikshya Thapa, and Kush Raj Joshi. From the NSU panel, Rewant Dhakal, Supriya Chalise, Aashish Sapkota, and Juli Pokhrel got elected as FSU members.

The election, which had been delayed from its initial dates of March 18 and April 1 due to disputes among student organisations, was held following an interim order from the Patan High Court.
