KP Sharma Oli re-elected as UML Chairman

Kathmandu: KP Sharma Oli has been re-elected as the Chairman of the CPN-UML, securing a decisive victory at the party’s 11th National Congress. Oli received 1,663 votes, defeating his main rival Ishwor Pokharel, who garnered 564 votes.

In other key positions, Shankar Pokharel emerged victorious as the General Secretary with 1,228 votes, while his contender Surendra Pandey secured 999 votes.

The elections for the vice-chairman posts saw stiff competition, with 11 candidates contesting five positions. Bishnu Poudel, Prithvi Subba Gurung, Ram Bahadur Thapa Badal, Gokarna Bista, and Raghuji Pant won the Vice-Chairman elections, while Yogesh Bhattarai, Raghubir Mahaseth, and Lekhraj Bhatta were elected as Deputy General Secretaries.

For the party’s secretary positions, the winners included Padma Aryal, Mahesh Basnet, Sherdhan Rai, Khagraj Adhikari, Hikmat Karki, Yamlal Kadel, Bhanubhakta Dhakal, Chhabilal Bishwakarma, and Rajan Bhattarai. These elections were competitive, with 20 candidates contesting for nine secretary posts. The Party Election Commission is expected to release the results of the 301 central committee members, including 19 office bearers soon.
