No excuse to postpone 10th Nat’l Games under any pretext: Sports Minister

Karnali, March 9: Minister for Youth and Sports Tejulal Chaudhary asserted that there is no longer any excuse or reason to postpone the 10th National Games to be held in Karnali.

Inaugurating the Secretariat of the 10th National Games-2082 Main Organizing Committee at Birendranagar, Surkhet on Sunday, Minister Chaudhary assured that the sports competition would be organized in the stipulated timeline, coming May 17-24.

Chaudhary claimed that there is no room for ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’ regarding the national games. According to him, letters would be dispatched to the ministers and concerned officials in all seven provinces starting today itself, notifying them that the competition will be held on the scheduled dates.

He saw the urgency to appoint a member-secretariat for Karnali Province as early as possible to facilitate the work in this regard. The Minister also extended his gratitude to the former and current Chief Minister of Karnali Province for their contribution to the timely completion of the national pride project-Karnali Province Stadium.

He urged the journalists not to disseminate news spurring skepticism about the impending games. Similarly, Chief Minister of Karnali Province Yamlal Kandel observed the increasing confidence that the competition would be held as scheduled.

He requested the organizers to carry out preparatory work smoothly. Kandel mentioned the readiness on the part of the provincial government to coordinate and manage the event in collaboration with the organizers. Likewise, Birendranagar Municipality’s mayor, Mohan Maya Dhakal, welcomed the national-level sports competition, calling it a significant sports event for the Karnali folks. —-RSS
