Vice President Yadav requests for 24-hour insurance for Nepali workers in Qatar
Kathmandu: Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav has urged the Qatari government to arrange 24-hour insurance for Nepali workers working in Qatar.
During a meeting with Qatari Ambassador to Nepal Mishaal Bin Mohamed Ali Al-Ansari, who paid a call on him at the Vice President’s Office in Lainchaur today, the Vice-President urged him to provide necessary assistance to Nepalis in various hospitals, deportation centres and prisons in Qatar.
‘A total of 67 Nepalis are serving prison sentences in Qatar and many are without any official documents,’ the Vice President said during the meeting and requested the Qatari government to grant amnesty or commute the prison term and to help undocumented Nepalis work regularly or return them to Nepal.
He also praised Qatar for its mediation in trying to release Nepali citizen Bipin Joshi and other hostages in Palestine, said the Vice President’s Press Coordinator Dinesh Yadav. During the meeting, Qatari Ambassador Ansari emphasized the need to further strengthen relations between the two countries and said that he was in favour of promoting investment in Nepal.
Referring to the around 400,000 Nepali workers in Qatar, the Ambassador said that he would try to ensure the welfare of Nepali workers in the country.
