NC President bats for workable education policy
Patan (Lalitpur): Former Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said Nepal needs to formulate an education policy that is workable for four to five decades.
Addressing the ‘education policy debate’ organized by the NC central education department here today, party President Deuba opined that Nepal should be developed as a centre of excellence for higher education.
‘Education and health are our essential needs. So, from school to university, quality education is a must,’ Deuba underlined. He wished such debates would be meaningful to whet views on making education further relevant.
Development of the education system is in NC’s high priority, Deuba said, adding that the party should also study well on making forthcoming education act effective.
‘Such a programme would be an effective platform to mull why universities were losing students,’ he reminded and stressed education’s links to skills.
The programme witnessed presentations from various experts including Education Department Chief of NC, Nainsing Mahar.
