CM Pandey calls for integrating technology with public service delivery

Kathmandu: Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Surendra Raj Pandey spoke of the need for civil employees to integrate technology with public service delivery.

Addressing a celebratory programme organized by the Civil Service Day Main Organizing Committee, Gandaki Province in Pokhara today on the occasion of the Civil Service Day-2081 today, CPM Pandey insisted on adaptation of the latest technology to enhance efficiency and timeliness.

Highlighting the need for the government to present itself positively towards the public’s works, Pandey asserted that the leadership in governance and bureaucracy should clarify why they cannot deliver on certain works of the public.

Stating that civil employees and political leadership at all levels are in favour of the public, he viewed that they should be dedicated towards services towards the public rather than involved in a blame game. Noting that many works were stalled due to the absence of the Federal Civil Service Act, the CM reaffirmed his commitment towards resolving issues at the provincial level arising during the absence of the Act.

Similarly, Gandaki Province Chief Secretary Laxmi Kumari Basnet stated that good governance, prosperity and development were the need of the hour and thus called for efforts to achieve notable results towards this as well as to increase the public’s access to public service delivery.

Likewise, the CDO of Kaski district Bharat Mani Pandey lauded the adaptability and progressive nature of the civil administration of Nepal that, according to him, was embracing every change in the structures of the State. Loknath Acharya, Chairperson of Employees Union Centre Kaski expressed his concern over civil administrations being viewed in a negative light lately and thus advocated for the efforts that would foster the public’s confidence towards it.

On the occasion, a publication named ‘Godhuli ko Sandesh’ (The Message from the Dusk) was unveiled. Furthermore, retired civil employee Nanu Thapa was honoured while winners and participants of various competitions and programmes organized on the occasion were awarded.

The leaders of trade unions underscored customer-friendly service delivery and called for improved interrelation among the politicians and civil employees. They also univocally pressed for introducing the Federal Civil Service Act at the earliest to resolve the existing issues in the civil administration of the country.
