Nepali Congress concludes 15th General Convention vote tally; oath-taking set for post-Dashain

KATHMANDU: The vote-counting process for the election of the new central leadership under the Nepali Congress 15th General Convention concluded on Friday morning.

Election Committee Member Secretary Raju Katuwal confirmed that the tallying process wrapped up following the release of final results for Madhesh and Bagmati provinces, alongside remaining regional, inclusive, and cluster-based Central Member positions. Initiated on the night of Ashoj 23, the counting process spanned approximately one week.

The committee noted that approximately 162,000 ballots cast by 7,392 voters across 229 positions and 77 categories were tallied. Operating around the clock with roughly 25 separate counting groups, the process was completed significantly faster than the 14th General Convention, which required 12 days for 4,700 voters, and concluded without any disputes.

Verification of the final vote tallies is currently underway. The Election Committee announced that the official distribution of certificates and the oath-taking ceremony for the newly elected leadership will be held immediately after the Dashain festival.
