APF to provide Rs 2.5 million to each family of its on-duty staff killed in disaster

Kathmandu: The Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal has decided to provide Rs 2.5 million to each family of its on-duty staff killed in the recent Bhotekoshi flood.

The APF Nepal took a decision to this regard in line with its existing rules on relief distribution and disaster management fund. In addition to these schemes, the assistance is generated from the relief amount collected from among the APF staffs.

The advisory committee meeting chaired by Inspector General of APF, Narayan Datta Poudel, said the families of the APF members would be exempted remaining amount of loan if they had taken it from APF’s Employee Welfare Fund.

The children of the deceased APF members would be provided schooling up to Grade 10 free of cost at any convenient APF school. Information on it was shared by joint spokesperson of APF, Shailendra Thapa.

Similarly, if anyone dependent to the APF person and losing life in the flood disaster, his/her family member would be provided Rs 100 thousand as monetary aid.

Even a monument of those APF persons lost in the disaster would be established. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), 13 APF staffs have gone out of contact since the catastrophic flood.

Five APF persons who escaped tragedy would be provided Rs 50,000 as incentive. Moreover, the security agencies stated that in case of the death of a retired APF staff or a state of homelessness caused by the disaster, his/her family will get Rs 100 thousand as humanitarian aid.

If any of them has received injury and house damaged, they would be provided Rs 50,000 as emergency support. Joint spokesperson Thapa shared that APF had decided to deposit Rs 155 million to the Prime Minister Natural Disaster Relief Fund.

This amount is collected from all APF persons, including IGP Paudel. However, the APF staffs who were stationed at border outpost and security base of Mailung but managed to escape deaths in the disaster need not contribute to the fund.
