Chinese Embassy rejects fake claims over Rasuwa floods

​KATHMANDU, Aug 27 — The Chinese Embassy in Nepal has firmly rejected allegations that China failed to issue an early warning or that the collapse of a dam on its side triggered the catastrophic flash floods along the border.

​In a official clarification released on Thursday, the embassy labeled viral claims suggesting Chinese negligence or infrastructure failure as “fake news”.

​According to the statement, the disaster was triggered on the morning of August 26 by an earthquake or glacier collapse on the Nepali side of the border. The resulting massive mudslides caused severe destruction and left individuals missing across both sides of the Gyirong–Rasuwagadhi border region.

​Dismissing the claims, China emphasized that unfounded accusations yield no benefit, stating, “Accusation helps nothing. Cooperation saves lives.”
