Government to announce rehabilitation package for flood victims
Kathmandu: The government is set to announce a subsidy and rehabilitation package for people, businesses and areas affected by Wednesday’s Bhotekoshi floods.
The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting held today at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
Government spokesperson and Minister for Information and Communication Sasmit Pokharel said the meeting directed the Ministry of Finance to prepare the package for flood-affected individuals and business organisations.
The package will target areas affected by flooding along the Bhotekoshi River and the Nepal-China border, including Rasuwagadhi and downstream areas.
Meanwhile, the government also decided to deposit one month’s salary and remuneration of the Prime Minister and all ministers into the Prime Minister’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund.
The Cabinet meeting also gave in-principle approval to the Agricultural Inputs Company Limited to purchase 25-thousand metric tonnes of DAP fertiliser from India through the government-to-government procurement mechanism.
