Kathmandu, Aug 24: Minister for Agriculture, Forest and Environment Geeta Chaudhary has pledged to make public the Lal Commission report on the Tikapur incident.

Speaking at an interaction organised by the Tharu Welfare Council on Sunday, Minister Chaudhary said revealing the facts surrounding the Tikapur incident is essential to ensuring justice and finding a lasting solution.

The council organises various programmes every year on Bhadra 7 to commemorate Tikapur Uprising Day. This year, it held an interaction on the uprising, the demands raised by the movement and possible ways forward. Discussions were also held on issues concerning the Tharu community in relation to Nepal’s Constitution and the need for constitutional amendments.

Minister Chaudhary said the government is working to address the concerns and demands of the Tharu community. She reaffirmed her commitment to promoting their rights, identity and access to justice.

She also said the government is committed to making the Lal Commission report public and addressing the legitimate demands of the Tharu community.
