Five Women Arrested With 15 Kg of Suspected Drugs in Kapilvastu
Kapilvastu, Aug. 24: Police have arrested five women in Krishnanagar of Kapilvastu while they were allegedly attempting to smuggle around 15 kg of suspected narcotic substances into India.
The arrests were made during a routine police patrol in the Old Bus Park area of Krishnanagar Municipality-2. Police said the women were travelling from Nepal toward India when they were detained.
According to the District Police Office, authorities recovered 5 kg and 225 grams of a black, viscous substance suspected to be hashish and another 10 kg of a similar substance believed to be opium.
Police also seized five mobile phones from the suspects.
Those arrested have been identified as Rajita Rokay and Bimala Pun of Dang; Panisara Saru and Nansari Gharti Magar of Kapilvastu; and Chuma Lamichhane of Parsa.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Ripendra Kumar Singh said an investigation is underway into the alleged drug trafficking case.
