Preparation to mark 20th national day against trafficking in person
Kathmandu: The government has set the theme for observing the 20th national day against trafficking in person. The day is marked by creating awareness against human sales and trafficking to build a civilized society
The theme for the day to be observed on September 5 is: ‘Wise Use of Technology: Solidarity for the Country with Elimination of Trafficking in Person’. The theme is determined by the Ministry of Women, Children, Gender and Sexual Minorities and Social Security.
With the rapid use of technology these days, the sales and trafficking of human has entered a new mode, thereby warranting a right use of technology and social awareness.
Social networking site, advertisement of job online, fake assurance of jobs abroad, fraud and exploitation have been amplified. It is therefore essential to make digital spheres safe and responsible, according to the Ministry. Efforts for minimization and control of trafficking in persons, protection and rehabilitation of the victims, and cooperation among related agencies will be stressed while observing the national day.
All three tiers of government, security agencies, civil society, media, private sectors, individual households are urged to extend cooperation to the government in bid to curb human trafficking. RSS
