NEA Sankhuwasabha branch office collects Rs 12 million in dues

Sankhuwasabha: The Sankhuwasabha Branch Office of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) collected Rs 12 million in dues in a year.

Chief of the Branch Office, Ram Babu Chaudhary, said more than Rs 400,000 was collected from government offices in the fiscal year 2082/83 BS.

Likewise, the remaining dues were collected from different industries and market areas in Khandbari and Chainpur areas.

According to the office, those failing to clear their electricity tariffs on time included hydropower projects, crusher industries and government offices. The district has a total of 31,590 power consumers, who consume only six megawatts of electricity out of the 46 megawatts of hydroelectricity generated from rivers in Sankhuwasabha.

Branch Chief Chaudhary said power supply has been ensured in 80 percent of households in the district, but some wards of Silichong, Makalu, Bhotkhola and Sabhapokhari rural municipalities are yet to be electrified.
