‘No LPG shortage, No need to stockpile unnecessary cylinders’

Kathmandu: The Nepal LP Gas Industry Association has urged consumers not to hoard unnecessary LPG cylinders as gas imports are increasing significantly.

As LPG is being imported from India without any obstruction and the industries refilling cylinders there was no need to hoard LPG cylinders.

“If consumers don’t purchase surplus LPG the current shortage will be resolved immediately. There is no possibility of gas shortage as there will be no problem in gas supply in the coming days,” says a statement issued by the NLPGA president Diwan Bahadur Chand today.

At the initiative of the state monopoly, Nepal Oil Corporation, the import of LPG from various refineries in India has been increased by about 15 percent.

The NOC has stated that 39,774 metric tons of LPG has been imported in the last 22 days, which shows that an estimated 55,000 metric tons of gas will be imported in the month of Shrawan alone.

During the corresponding period last fiscal year, 44,318 metric tons of gas has been imported.

Meanwhile, the retailers and sellers have been asked to sale and distribute gas by giving priority to household users.
