Speaker Aryal bids farewell to EU Ambassador Lorenzo, urges support to exit air safety list

August 4, Kathmandu: Speaker of the House of Representatives Dol Prasad (DP) Aryal met with outgoing European Union Ambassador to Nepal, Véronique Lorenzo, for a farewell courtesy call at the Federal Parliament Secretariat in Singha Durbar on Tuesday.

The discussion covered a broad range of bilateral interests, including parliamentary diplomacy, economic cooperation, and development partnerships between Nepal and the European Union.

During the meeting, Speaker Aryal highlighted that removing Nepal from the EU Air Safety List—where Nepali airlines have been listed since 2013—remains a top priority for the Government of Nepal. He expressed hope for the European Union’s continued support and technical assistance in facilitating Nepal’s exit from the list.

He also briefed Ambassador Lorenzo on the government’s core priorities, emphasizing governance reforms, anti-corruption measures, job creation, and infrastructure development.

Pointing to the recent formation of parliamentary friendship groups with several EU member states, Speaker Aryal shared plans to establish a dedicated parliamentary friendship group with the European Union to deepen legislative ties.

In response, Ambassador Lorenzo expressed her gratitude to the Government of Nepal, the Federal Parliament, and the Nepali public for their goodwill and cooperation throughout her tenure, voicing confidence in the continued growth of Nepal–EU relations.
