CM Karki urges Sunsari folks to exercise restraint

Biratnagar: Chief Minister of Koshi Province, Hikmat Kumar Karki, has urged the people in Sunsari to exercise restraint, expressing sorrow over the incident that occurred at Dewangunj Rural Municipality in the district.

Issuing a press release on Monday, Chief Minister Karki called all citizens not to run behind incomplete information and rumours but to promote social harmony, mutual trust and fraternity during this sensitive time.

“We Nepalis have remained united for centuries by respecting our ethnicities, languages, religions and cultures. I request all stakeholders, civil society, political parties, people’s representatives and media persons to maintain social and communal harmony,” reads the statement.

Chief Minister Karki mentioned that the Koshi province government is committed to ensuring coordination and cooperation with the bodies concerned. He requested the government to save lives and properties by making security arrangements immediately and extended condolences to the bereaved family.

Om Prakash Mehta, 24, who was injured in a police firing following a clash between two groups in Kaptangunj on Sunday night, died while undergoing treatment.
