The Central Policy, Research and Training Institute of the Nepali Congress is organising a ‘green run’ in Kathmandu Valley on July 22 morning to create public awareness about climate change.

At a press meet organised by the NC on Monday, NC Vice-President and Institute Chief Bishwa Prakash Sharma shared that a five-kilometre run is going to be organised under the slogan ‘Let’s gather to create climate change public awareness’.

Similarly, group-wise discussion comprising experts on ‘Challenges of climate change: How to address it?’ would be organised at Jawalakhel Chowk after the race, he added. Likewise, artists would paint pictures depicting the challenges and possibilities of climate change in the same place simultaneously.

A programme, along with the announcement of the party’s new campaign, will be held on July 23. The party would also establish a ‘Humanitarian Assistance Fund’, depositing the amount from its fund based on the number of people who participated in ‘Green Run’.

The NC Vice-President opined that the amount of the ‘Humanitarian Assistance Fund’ would be spent for the welfare of elderly persons and children of the recently displaced landless squatter families.

Similarly, it was shared in the press meet that the NC would organise a seminar on ‘New circumstances: New resolutions, new campaign’ at City Hall on the same day.
