Heavy Rainfall Likely in Parts of Six Provinces

Kathmandu, July 21: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast heavy rainfall at one or two locations in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces today.

According to the Department, monsoon winds remain active across the country, while the monsoon low-pressure system has shifted slightly north of its average position.

Most parts of the country are currently experiencing generally cloudy conditions. The Department has also predicted light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in several areas, including a few places in Madhes Province and parts of the Tarai region of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces.

In the high Himalayan region, light to moderate rainfall and snowfall, along with thunder and lightning at some locations, are also likely.

The Department said generally cloudy weather is expected to continue across the country tonight and has urged the public, particularly those living in areas vulnerable to floods and landslides, to remain alert.
