Parliamentary Hearing Committee to Review Election Commission Appointments Today
Kathmandu, July 21: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee is set to meet today to begin the hearing process on the nominees for the posts of Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners.
The meeting, scheduled for 11:00 am at the Federal Parliament Building in Singha Durbar, will brief committee members on the complaints, if any, received against the nominees as well as the action plans submitted by them.
The Constitutional Council, in its July 3 meeting, recommended Man Bahadur Karki for appointment as Chief Election Commissioner, while Dr Rajiv Subba and Guru Prasad Wagle were nominated as Election Commissioners.
Following the parliamentary hearing, the committee will decide whether to endorse the recommendations. If approved, the nominees will be formally appointed to their respective positions by the President.
